About Lucy Watson
I am a comedy writer and food lover. I grew up in Melbourne, but spent the last five years living in the UK, returning to my hometown in June 2010.
I have a passion for eating out in restaurants, drinking wine, and trying all the culinary delights of the many cultures of the world. My favourite foods are Japanese, seafood, Mexican, dim sum, Sunday roast, lamb tikka massala, all kinds of pie, and cheese.
My favourite ever meals include: an amazing cote du boeuf at Ramsay’s York & Albany in London; okonomiyaki and the best beer I ever drank in Hiroshima, Japan; schnitzel and spatzle with mushroom sauce and an enormous side of weiss beer in a little local restaurant in Fussen, Bavaria; deep fried mussels and oysters, with Mexican spiced corn at Mary’s Fish Camp, NYC; fresh seafood and the biggest oysters I have ever seen at Ee Usk in Oban, Scotland; Mum’s stroganoff; Andrew Newman’s “Spag LOL”; Bethy’s turkey and apricot salad; Christmas dinner in Edinburgh 2005; fish by sunset in Glenelg after a day at Grange Beach; and any decent cheese plate I have ever eaten.
I also love cooking for friends, watching cooking shows and harbour fantasies of being a food critic, running a pub, and making pies.
If I could have dinner with anyone it would be Henry Cavill (cos he may just be the most handsome man in the world), Giles Coren (cos he’s funny, loves food too, and well, he’s cute too), Nira Park (cos she produced Spaced, Black Books and now Scott Pilgrim vs the World, nuff said), and Dylan Moran (he’s my favourite comedian, and seems to like a drop of red). And I would like the Hairy Bikers or James Martin to cook it, and then join us!
I could not live without red wine, or cheese. So don’t ever ask me to!
I hope you enjoy my culinary adventures.
